What Is Latisse®?

Latisse® is an effective prescription treatment to grow thicker, darker, and longer eyelashes that has proven time and time again to both increase the number of sprouting eyelashes and extending their growth phase too.

While often used aesthetically for achieving fuller, longer eyelashes, Latisse® can also be used as a treatment for hypotrichosis, a condition whereby a progressive loss of hair is experienced during adolescence. Anyone who is looking to undergo Latisse® treatment for either of these reasons can expect to achieve darker eyelashes, an increase in their eyelashes’ thickness and fullness, as well as an increase in the overall length of their eyelashes.

How Is Latisse® Treatment Performed?

Since the Latisse® treatment is prescription-based, the treatment itself is completed at home by the patient themselves. The whole treatment is very simple and straightforward, and you should have no trouble applying Latisse® to your lashes each night.

The Latisse® product comes supplied with special Latisse® sterile applicators which are dabbed into the product and applied to the upper eyelashes on a nightly basis. There’s no need to apply any to the bottom lashes, as once it’s been applied, the Latisse® will be spread to them anyway.

When you’re ready to apply the Latisse® , you should make sure that your face is clean, you’re not wearing any contact lenses, and that you’re not wearing any makeup. Once you’re ready, make sure your hands have been thoroughly washed (you don’t want any germs getting near to your eyes) and start by removing the Latisse® applicator from its packaging. You should hold it out horizontally and squeeze only one drop of Latisse® from the bottle onto the Latisse® applicator.

When applying Latisse® , you should carefully draw the Latisse® applicator along the base of the top eyelashes, starting from the inside making your way outward. When you blink, the Latisse® will spread over to the lower lashes, so there’s no need to apply it to anywhere besides the top lashes. At all times, be careful not to get any of the Latisse® product in your eye.

Once all is done, any excess Latisse® on the eyelid or eyelashes should be blotted away, while continuing to take care not to get any in the eyes.

How Long Will the Results of My Latisse® Treatment Last?

So long as you continue to apply the Latisse® to your eyelashes each night, results should start to become apparent after around two months. When you reach three or four months of Latisse® treatment, your doctor may or may not suggest that you reduce your use down to once every two nights.

After around the 16-week mark, studies into the effectiveness of Latisse® treatment have shown that patients see an average increase in the length of their eyelashes by as much as 25 percent, with thickness and darkness increasing by 106 percent and 18 percent, respectively.

Should you cease treating your eyelashes with Latisse® , you’ll see your eyelashes slowly returning to their former state, so discuss with your doctor how to proceed when you reach your desired results.
