What Is Dysport®?
Dysport® is a botulinum injectable similar to Botox® that works to relax dynamic wrinkles. Approved by the FDA since 2009, Dysport® injections are a simple and non-invasive treatment to temporarily freeze muscles around the forehead, eyes, nose, and mouth that are caused by reduced collagen production and muscle contraction. After Dysport® is injected into target muscles, the muscles can no longer communicate with nerves to contract. This relaxes the overlying skin and smooths away the dynamic wrinkles.
Dysport® is most frequently used to treat frown lines but it can also be used to treat bunny lines on the nose, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and lipstick lines.
How Much Does Dysport® Cost in Birmingham, MI?
The cost of Dysport® in Birmingham, Michigan, depends on factors such as the treatment area and the number of units you need to achieve the results you are looking for. Dysport® does tend to be more affordable than Botox®, however. The best way to find out your cost is to contact us for a free consultation. We will create a tailored treatment plan and review your individual cost. For your convenience, we offer financing through CareCredit® with affordable monthly payments.
What Is the Difference Between Dysport® and Botox®?
Botox® (onabotulinumtoxinA) and Dysport® (abotulinumtoxinA) are both wrinkle treatments and botulinum compounds derived from a protein. The difference between the two is the potency of their trace proteins.
Dysport® may be better at reducing the appearance of crow’s feet; however, there are no significant differences between Dysport® and Botox®. Both products affect nerve impulses in the same way to temporarily paralyze facial muscles responsible for wrinkles.
If you have not responded well to Botox® treatments in the past or you have developed a tolerance, you may benefit from Dysport®.
How Long Will My Dysport® Results Last?
Dysport® is a bit faster-acting than Botox® with results visible within two to three days versus up to one week. You will see the full results within two to three weeks. Dysport® results can last for up to four months, or about as long as Botox®. You may notice that wrinkles are less severe when they do return, as the underlying muscles shrink after an extended period of paralysis. To maintain your results, maintenance Dysport® treatments are recommended.
