Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is ideal for gentle skin regeneration, removal of dead skin cells, softening of general roughness or thickened patches of skin, refinement of the appearance of pores and fine lines, and stimulation of collagen formation. It is a less-invasive alternative to chemical peels, providing similar results without the high level of irritation that powerful chemical peels can cause immediately after treatment. How does microdermabrasion work?
Microdermabrasion treatments work by using tiny crystals to remove the outer layer of dead cells from the skin, replenishing the skin and providing a more youthful appearance. In crystal microdermabrasion, tiny crystals are propelled into the skin using a hand-held device that allows an experienced professional from Clarkston Dermatology to carefully remove the dead cells from the surface of the skin.
How many treatments do I need?
The exact number of treatments is determined by the patient's needs and on a case-by-case basis. Generally, microdermabrasion treatments are most effective when repeated every 2-4 weeks for a year or longer. Results can be seen after the first treatment, but gradually improve over time.
